Hi folks,
Need your help again, please: I have replaced the injectors (due to one leaking) in my 2004 X3, Manual transmission. After the install, the car started beautifully, but when I took it to a test drive I noticed that it would not rev higher than 2500 RPM. Turned back right away and managed to park in the garage where I went right away to troubleshooting the fuel system after noticing that there is no fuel pressure at the shredder valve. I have bypassed the fuel relay and I get the pressure up to 50 PSI, but when I turn the engine on, the pressure drops to zero, and the car dies. I can hear the fuel pump running continuously as the relay is bypassed, yet the pressure still drops to zero upon starting the engine.
Any ideas, please?
Thank you,
Jean
Fuel pump
Jclausen, judging by the simptoms....you are totaly right!!! I will clean the old injectors, put them back on, and if nothing changes, I'll go for the fuel pump. There's still a question nagging me: why did it start acting up after changing injectors?? Once gain, I agree with you and I will go ahead chasing that fuel pump. And, one more thing: I can hear the pump priming the fuel line for about 3 to 4 seconds after turning the ignition on. Is it possible that the pumps shaft is slipping on the impeller housing?
Anyway, thanks a lot for your input, and I'll keep you posted.
Cheers,
Jean
