Just picked up an e32 off impulse

Hey all, so normally Im in the e34 forums on here as I have a 92 calypso 5spd but I just added its big brother into the mix.

So I was driving to a shop yesterday and In the corner off my eye I see an e32 parked in front of a junkyard. It looked in decent shape so i stopped and went in and inquired about it. He said he had no idea what it was as they just got it and told me to go check it out and if I wanted whole thing throw him an offer. So i went and walked around and body wasn’t too bad. Front left fender had been clipped and was dented. Minor bottom of door rust( which Ill admit I didn’t even really notice until I got home, it was a rainy and cloudy day and black car!) besides that it was not bad. Paint not completely faded. So I got inside and tried starting her and to my surprise she ran. That old m30b35 inside still had life! Long story short I went home grabbed the essentials and went back . I topped off coolant overflow and oil and let it run for about 45 mins to make sure it didn’t overheat. Skeptical of a blown head gasket. Temps stayed good and I told the guy I’ll do $600, he initially wanted $750. I got it for $650. Drove her home on the worst dry rotted tires I imaginable. Anyway here we are. An 88 735i. 195k. A wonderful auto trans(lol). One owner it turns out! And came with oe bbs wheels stamped W. Germany. She needs love but I think it was worth it. A couple questions though.

    1. Might these bbs wheels be worth anything once cleaned up?
    2. I have an odd screech like sound upon initial acceleration.(sounds like its coming from belt area. Water pump or alternator possibly?
    3. Where the hell can I buy things like a water pump or even fuel filter?IMG_0806.jpg
Currently have 2 of my e34 wheels on front so its driveable.

Nice pick up. I just had a look at FCPEuro and if you're not looking for OEM parts, you can pick up a Meyle water pump and gasket, and fuel filter for under 50 bucks. If you've never done a fuel filter on this car, you'll find it almost dead center under the rear bumper once you're up on a lift. Just did mine. You're going to find that prices on parts for the car you just bought have come way down. Post a couple of motor pics, running. Good luck with your project.

Also If you're going to keep the same size wheel on the car you'll find that 225 60 15 tires are disappearing. Cooper, Fuzion, Kumho, and BF Goodrich are about all that's left.

Great to hear! Because I believe my screech noise is the waterpump. And ive done fuel filter on my e34 and its in exact same location, I saw today. Will post motor pics soon! Funny thing is a couple weeks ago a gentleman gave me a completely disassembled m30b35 in exchange for delivering tires I sold him. I began parting the motor out and here I am with the same motor in my 7er! So I have tons of spare parts. In terms of tires, I think Im just going to swap my e34 stocks onto the 7. And upgrade the e34 to something better.
    Thanks for the info!

yes for the kumho , we have the ecsta lx platinum for the last few months, before we had the michelin that were 8 years old, so it is always an improvement with new tires, even on the wet roadway...

FCP, pelicanparts.com, bavauto.com (bavarian) not too sure which one I use the most, basically I pick the one that has all I need in one shipping

Thank you! And if you guys want to hear a crazy story....

So I get the 7er home and check out the trunk, I pull up the trunk lining and what do I find.....

    A rifle!
At first I thought it was a Bb gun but upon further investigation I learned it was a 22 caliber. Gun was in rough condition, but I’ll admit I loaded a bullet in and fired it in my backyard, away from my face of course. I was curious!
Anyway living near Chicago and with all our anti gun and violence campaigns there was a gun buy back hosted by the Chicago Pd. They offer $100 for real guns and $10 for bb guns. No questions asked as a way to get guns off streets. So I decided to bring the worthless 22 in from the 7 and voila! $100.
Soo my $650 7 series came with a rifle which I was able to sell to the police for $100!! And that right there is now a $550 7 series! Figured its a pretty damn interesting story you guys would enjoy.

u should look for bullets inside the trunk and sell them. maybe if theres a revolver or something from the 80's, sell it to the pawn stars. you might cover the cost of the whole car.

NICE lol, I love finds like that but admittedly I don’t think I’ve ever scored anything valuable. This car is so happy to be saved it’s giving you presents haha

+1 for fcpeuro.com - you can't beat their prices, customer service, or their lifetime warranty. Look into their warranty - it's literally unlimited, even for wear items like brake pads and water pumps/belts

and realoem for part #'s if you didn't know that already
