Hey guys, so my car ran fine a week ago. Drove it about 15 miles home from the guy I got it from. Only driven it a couple other times around town because I work a lot. Recently I was driving it and it started dying. So I figured maybe it was the timing and got it timed. Wasn’t that. Then I replaced the alternator, fuel pump, and coil pack, and it stil dies. More specifically I’ll start it now and 5 to 10 seconds after I start it it shuts off even if I try to give it gas to keep it alive. I was thinking it could be the fuel pressure regulator, idle control valve or crank positioning sensor. And I’m not any good with the m30b30 engines so I may be overlooking their locations because I do t know where they are at. Any help would be great if you’ve had this issue before. Thanks!!
Moved from 5 series general to E28 forum, as we do not have a separate E12 sub forum.

I would look at crank position sensor .. CPS ... on the M30B30 it is on front of engine .. drivers side (US) ... just below the Dist cap / or thermostat housing . Held in with a torx bolt .. usually pretty easy to remove ...
Running and then stopping is one of the symptoms of a failing CPS . Given that you have already checked the fuel side of it and the coil ..
How do I check to make sure it works correctly. They’re expensive online
