    Big Bend Open Road Race

Any of you Texas guys familiar with this? I am thinking about letting Eva stretch her legs.

I went years ago but did not officially enter the race. It's pricey and there are VERY serious players there. I saw plenty of Vettes and a few really nice exotics. These folks have navigators, stopwatches, and all the fancies to keep track of times. I did run the course before the race, (I was there Thursday), and you can scare the $hit out of yourself! Couple of blind turns and drop in elevation. Scared me when I felt the tires leave the ground! If you stay below 100mph you should be safe. If you do enter, don't plan on winning anything! It is worth the trip for sure. Be sure to pay attention to schedule. Practice times,etc.. I ran it during off time when the highway was not shut down and passed a highway patrol at 140+mph. Scary feeling for a second but he never even flinched. Later that night at the Best Western all the Vette owners were talking about getting speeding tickets all day. I guess the cop likes BMW's?!
as I said, lots of real professionals there- don't plan on any awards!!

It looks to be a very serious operation, and I certainly have no aspirations of winning anything. I am thinking it is a bucket list thing, as I will turn 60 in April 2020, kind of a milestone gift for a milestone birthday.

You will love it. Great experience. Never know, maybe I will meet up with you on the way (I'm in Abilene) and join in. Schedule is always unpredictable here. PM me and let me know if you are going.
    BTW I think I was 56 when I went. Can't remember!!!

Any other oldies catch the "can't remember syndrome"?!

Well hopefully you will get some new socks for Christmas, and retire some of those that are tired.

I will stay in touch regarding this. I will be busy during tax season in 2019, so it is unlikely I will have Eva and myself ready. The 2020 race will hopefully be easier to achieve. It's not that my memory is bad, just my filing system. It is all in there somewhere.
