2000 740i radio/Nav screen issues

Ok folks, hopefully someone out there has experienced the problem I am about to describe.
I have a 2000 740i Sport and the radio/nav screen is working intermittenly. When I first get into the car, sometimes the system works fine but here lately, it goes to a white screen on the nav unit/computer screen. when it does this, the radio will work for a few minutes and then shuts off. I have to turn the radio off and then back on again. Works for a few minutes and then does the same thing again. No display whatsoever.
I have checked connections and battery appears to be fine.
Any help regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

These kinds of symptoms have been reported for many many years now with the E38 and the same setups in E39's, E53's and E46's. The modules are getting old now and failing more often and there's multiple points of failure for each module and of course, most are 'relatively' expensive.

You'll need to swap out modules with known working ones till you pinpoint which one(s) are causing the issue and evaluate how you want to go. Prior to that, check fuses, check wiring continuity, re-set the setup etc.

The usual culprits are the amplifier module and/or GPS computer unit, but can be caused with other modules misbehaving/failing too.
