Hi all,
I’ve posted already about my thermostat issue, hopefully that’s sorted.
However I’ve been out in the car this morning and it’s down on power. Did a 400 mile drive yesterday from the Uk to Nurburgring and the car seemed fine, happily cruising at 90mph without issue.
This morning it feels like the car is in some sort of limp mode but I’ve got no codes, no smoke from the exhaust just a severe difficulty getting up hills - and there’s a lot of them here!!
I’ve unplugged the Maf and there doesn’t seem to be any difference. Wondering if perhaps a vacuum line has popped off.
The ‘boost gauge’ (mpg gauge) is still moving all the way to the end in lower gears but further through the gears it’s not going above half and is clearly down on power.
Any thoughts?
The first step in diagnosing a problem is to scan the engine computer and the transmission computer for codes. The Service Engine Soon light is on only when an emissions code is present.
I have done that. There are no engine codes. There is a gearbox code, P0732 Gear 2 incorrect ratio, which I am fully aware of and that’s a separate issue entirely.
Just a quick one - there were two vacuum lines disconnected. I think one has been disconnected since I bought the car because it goes well now
What tool did you use to scan the computers? It does matter.
I don't know what it was, some proper BMW Diagnostic software that a local specialist here has, he reprogrammed my mate M3 SMG yesterday too so I can only assume it's the proper job. Been on a long drive in the car today, up and down the Autobahn and it's fine now.
