Hi,
I have decided to put my 86 745i up for sale. I have 5 vintage BMW's and not enough time to devote to all of them.
Its an Exectutive package car in very-good condition. Garret Turbo, adjustable wastegate, boost control, MagnaFlow stainless exhaust and gauge package installed by previous owner. Runs and drives great. Pulls very well.
I drove it 1500 miles to the Vintage in Ashville and back and it performed flawlessly.
All system worked fine until last month, the HVAC system stopped. (r134 converetd AC worked great) So there's a leak some where and I currently don't have the time or energy to investigate, that job will fall to the next owner. Heater and defroster work fine so your okay for the winter.
Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Nice looking car, hopefully you get close to your price. Its nice to see E23's becoming more valuable.
I remember when this car was up for sale a few years ago. The interior on this car is by far one of the best I've seen that isn't a straight up time capsule. Even mine wasn't near that nice and I always felt it was one of the better ones.
That rust is really concerning though, my old car just got crushed recently over rust not too dissimilar from that. I thought it was fixable until one of the jack points collapsed from rust inside the rocker.

BMW specs 1.5% CO for the Motronic 745i. My research points to right at 14:1 on the wideband, this is on a sealed engine, no leaks, correct plugs, correct idle RPM, fully hot, etc. Obviously, the idle is not 100% stable so it will fluctuate. I set these cars at 14:1 and they deviate between 13.5-14.2:1 usually as the RPM fluctuates. You will have to diddle with it to get it to spec.
Here is what is odd to me on yours, you have a three wire ICV beside the throttle body. I am curious how this functions as the factory setup was just an 'idle slide valve'...like a carburetor choke essentially.
If you have a chance, please pull the passenger kick panel cover and tell us what ECU is running on this vehicle. It should be 0.261.200.013. AFM should be 0.280.203.022 I am starting to think it is running a -059 from a US spec car. The main relay for the 013 is missing, the knock control unit check valve is missing, No1 cylinder spark pick up missing, the boost solenoid is missing, etc.

Thank you Sir.
The car has a 059 ECU and fuel system harness installed from an an e28. Installed with the team 745i wastegate, boost control and performance chip. Also adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
So it should be a richer mixture?
All this was done by PO. So I’m not knowledgeable about the whole setup.

When was that 059 swap done? Any idea why? How is the EH trans still running, with a US TCU or somehow off a the 013?
Todd at TCD has more knowledge than I do regarding tuning the 059 to run with a rising rate fuel pressure regulator and boost. It may have the wrong RRFPR on there, made for factory forced induction when it needs aftermarket FI. Just for example.

059 ECU was installed over 10 years ago. Along with turbo upgrades. As I said, done by PO so I can’t say why. Car runs great, transmission operates as it should. I had the car looked at by a local BMW shop that does turbo work and they’re okay with it.
Trust me, they do not know a 745i like I do. No car should idle in the 11s when hot. It is terrible for the cylinder walls and bearings. Just trying to help, please do not take any of my info as negative.
Hopefully that ASAP sheet helps the sale, now you know all the options installed at factory. PO must have added the spoiler and badge. Debadged cars are awesome. My 10/84 is a factory debadge too. Do you still have the key for that factory alarm, that is what the slot is for in the trunk. I can zip you a photo to see what it looks like.

Like Hit man says, you are running way too rich.

After a a few adjustments I have the AFM between 13 & 14:1 at idle at full operating temp. Went for a nice long test drive. No issues to report. Looking forward to the improved gas mileage. Thanks for the advise.
John
Keep an eye on it during a high boost pull. Ideally it should be in the mid 12s on a stock compressor wheel, then taper more and more rich as the turbocharger cannot move enough air at high RPM so it runs rich.
https://www.maxgms.com/collections/f...nt=37038563841 Bell changed name to MaxG recently, but they can help you dial that setup in properly. Even idling in the low to mid 13s is a vast improvement.
Your bottom end will thank you running leaner. Less fuel dilution of the oil is less abrasive to the cylinder walls and bearings.
Did you ever have a chance to upload those undercarriage shots?

Hey my 4 gauge console!
Did you buy this from me back in the day or did it come with your 7?
