Ok then ,840ci 97’ ,my (I think) oil cooler has been leaking for some time, think I saw in wheeler dealers (uk tv show) that they go on one of the union pipes,so,can it be fixed ? Or is it get a new one ? And, where’s cheapest (is it an 8 part only ?)Also,my mate runs a garage, and he said he a merc that the trans oil cooler went on and Merc garage told him to bypass it with a pipe, which he did, they reckoned that in a cold country like the uk, they are fine, and it was...so...what do you lot reckon ?..cheers Joel.

The repair depends on what is truly leaking. If it is the cooler itself, I would replace it with new, either factory or aftermarket. There are O rings where the transmission cooler lines connect to said cooler, and sometimes new O rings are the repair. Heat is the number 1 killer of automatic transmissions, so I would fix it.
