On my 2010 535i wagon I found an oil leak between the two half’s of the oil cooler. It’s an expensive part to replace which begs the question. Has anyone upgraded their oil cooler in the e60? Seems like I could run braided lines to a front mount oil cooler for less than half the cost of the oem cooler. Even if no performance gain I simplify the impending cost of the oil cooler lines failing. Thoughts?

I do know that some of the cars had an oil cooler block off plate and no cooler. The front mount oil cooler has been done to 335's have seen it and the hoses were of course in the way of a different repair, kinda pissed me off but was a good idea also.

Yeah I’ve noticed part numbers match for the 335i so using aftermarket coolers shouldn’t be an issue. I would probably just make my own kit. But I don’t want to reduce the cooling capacity Incase I ever find money in my pocket to modify the car.

Update for future reference. Replaced with oem. Super easy diy with exception to one bolt that holds a oil hardline to the fan. Without that I could of been out in half hour. Fallowed pelican parts diy.
