I recently bought this car and it ran smoothly for a month then I see the service engine soon light. I was getting the brakes replaced by a local European mechanic and he scans it (P0300,P0303,P0305)says a spark plug and ignition coil would fix it. I do this on my own and after it was still misfiring in the 3rd and 5th cylinder:. I bring it back in and he sees thereÂ’s a vaccine leak in the valve cover and fixes this but then it is still misfiring in 3 and 5. I was wondering if anyone knew what this could be. The symptoms are rough/erratic idle, misfiring, high pitched hunming while it runs off a cold start, lights get dimmer during the erratic idlein sync with it. Thanks for any help.
... the "high pitched hunming while it runs off a cold start" could be the secondary air pump either leaking or failing
but when mine failed it did not cause any rough idle or misfiring
... forty-three years of driving before I get behind the wheel of a BMW .... and I am thinking, "why did it take me so long?"
... and then after another 4 years I can't believe that I have two of them !!
Double checked the routing of the ignition coils to the correct cylinder (just to be sure)?
Possibly something to do with the distributor/cap itself since the codes are still coil related?
Curious to know what you find on this, please post up when you figure it out.
