Suspension Longevity Question for 535i Owners

    Hey All,

Former BMW owner here looking to get back to a BMW. Specifically looking at CPO F10 535i M Sports. From my experience with an older E36 M3, suspension parts (bushings, ctrl arms, etc) are not designed to last for the long haul. Is that the same for the newer 5'ers? Does everything need to be replaced around 60k or so?

I have done a decent amount of searching in the forum and on the net (with not much success) and hope this question hasn't been asked 50 times already but I would appreciate it if owners of both new and used 535i M Sports could chime in with how long they went before having to spend money on suspension maintenance.

I'm trying to get an idea of what kind of expenses I would be looking at buying a CPO car with under 40k on the clock and from what I remember, engine wise, things were solid but suspension wise, things tended to wear out.

Thanks in advance and maybe I'll be back in a Bimmer soon

Take it easy and happy Thanksgiving!

I can't respond for a 535, but I owned a 2008 528xi from 9000 miles to 203,000 miles. I did nothing to the suspension for the first 160,000 miles. At that point, I figured it was time to replaced some suspension parts. Actually, I replaced all the front suspension parts. Tensions struts, control arms, struts, tie rod ends, every bushing, nut, and bolt. I didn't replace the steering rack, axles, or springs (they were previously replaced because one broke). I replaced everything with BMW OEM parts. I think it cost close to $2000.

What a disappointment. I was expecting great improvements in ride & handling. At best, I could maybe feel a little difference in the handling. In hindsight, it would have been fine until I sold the car at 203,000 miles.

Thank you very much for your input... I ended up buying a Lexus so I do not have to worry about. But thanks again.

    Have a good holiday...
