Just for info, in this link are some excellent pics of the original AB03 adapter with the pins shown on the OBDII connector (6 pins) and the one on the round female port with 4 pins

alternatively, if you consider to buy a new tool needed for various BMW's, I recommend the R5/FCX3-U Engine Code Scan and Reset Tool for 1987-2007 BMW, that includes the adaptor plug harness AB03.
Otherwise for the E32 the R5/FCX3 is sufficient for the 20-pin diagnosis port, the adapter is for the models with the 16-pin OBDII.
