Evening, Gentleman.
I just grabbed a 2013 328i Sedan xDrive Sportline Autotragic.
I'm a current owner of 2 E46s.
The transmission feels a little soft. Not as if it's slipping(revving out of gear). It's as though it's just "taking it's time". Is there anything I can do outside of the normal maintenance to make sure this ZF doesn't fail on me?
Looking at putting 150 soft miles each week on it as a daily driver.
Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new ride! I completely understand what you're saying and I think that's just the 'feel' that they were going for to make it appealing to non-enthusiast. Let us know if you have any other questions and we'll be happy to help out.

Did you try it in Sport mode?
Get it coded to Sports Automatic if it didn't come with that option. It will be much better.
The 8HP automatic transmission is one of the best I have seen. It's definitely not an autotragic.

In fact, the ZF 8HP with sport auto program is said to shift as quick as a Ferrari 458 - less than 150ms when WOT in Sport+
