Hi I own a 1996 Bmw M3 Evo. S50B32 Engine
If Im driving in 1st gear and I put my foot down all the way the car pulls from 1k to 3k rpm fine but then from 3k to 7k it feels like its hesitating and not accelerating like it should.
Where as if I'm in 2nd gear and do the same thing it pulls very good through the entire rev range (No Hesitation).
Anyone know what this could be?
If it's gear-dependent then it sounds like a transmission problem to me.
I would wonder if you have a VANOS issue. That’s *extremely* common on the S50B32, and if the VANOS can’t adjust quickly enough, you’d get low gear problems.
Can you describe the hesitation? Do you have access to a GT1 to do proper diagnostics?
