BMW 335i Engine

All 2008 BMW 335i sedans came with only dual turbo charged engines right? I had a lady tell me today that they only put twin turbos on select models. I think that’s false. Thoughts?

Yes she is wrong. You could search what the different 3 series trims were for that specific year and it will tell you also.

2008 335 were all twin turbo N54 engines.

My friend just had a single turbo installed with the special header, it's interesting mod, shop who install it did a crappy job for moving the expansion tank and other things like take, plus the turbo is almost right up on the hood, the hood needs to be modified and vented

Simple answer: All 335 models are turbocharged. Earlier models were twin turbo. Later models were a single turbo. Somewhere around 2009 was the change from the N54 (twin turbo) to the N55 (single turbo).

All E90 335 N54 engines do in fact come with a twin turbo set up. Never have seen a single.

Do not consider one unless you enjoy even more oil leaks than the N52 and twin turbo means twin problems. It is proven that these motors are notorious for issues related to turbos.

Shame though, they are really impressive in their power and response.

You're mistaken on one account. N54's have the exact same oil leaks as an N52. Both engines leak from the valve cover. Both leak from the oil pan (eventually). And both leak from the oil filter housing gaskets. There is nothing additional that the N54 has over the N52.

I do agree that N54 engines are typically more costly to maintain, being direct injected, turbo'd, etc. But strictly speaking of oil leaks, they are no different.
