    Front Struts Question 2001 740iL

Can I replace my EDC front struts with non-EDC struts?

The selection of EDC replacements is thin - and probably more expensive.

Any and all guidance would be greatly appreciated as I plan on ordering replacements today.

    Thank you Gents

There is only one edc - over $1k per front, and $700+ for rear. It’s a hard choice - Bilstein yellows are $265 at fcp euro, and Bilstein tourings are about $125 each ( for the fronts ). They both require new springs - I’d get eibach, but that is a personal choice. Not sure what you are doing in the rear. Do you have edc, or edc + sls ( self leveling )

I believe I only have EDC (no SLS) - How would I know?

I am only interested in replacing the fronts - do I have to do the rears at the same time?

    Thank you

If you have SLS there will be a couple of extra small lines coming off the PS reservoir. If you jack up the rear you will see small lines going into the shocks. Are the front struts blown and leaking oil? If I ever get rid of mine I will just buy coilovers that way you can set the damper and spring rate. I replaced the OE struts on my wife's car with Bilstein B4's and I think they are stiff.

Do a google search and look for forum results and I'm sure you will find tons of examples.

I’ve ran bc coilovers for 5-6 years have absolutely no complaints. Less than a 1000 for all 4 corners. Not to mention ride hight adjustment and camber plates and adjustable dampening. Customer service is outstanding. Just FYI

Regardless of what you have, edc only, or with SLS, just doing the fronts is fine.
