Hi I am new to this site.
I recently purchased a 2002 BMW 745i
I am looking for suggestions on how to upgrade stereo to Blue tooth/
Thanks for any suggestions
First, go to www.newtis.infoto find out a bit about the car’s electronix. The website is typical German-very logically laid out. Additionally, your car’s head unit may or may not have an extra connector at its back. Also, you car may already be equipped with the ability to accept a factory Bluetooth module. Unfortunately, the factory Bluetooth modules of that era weren’t able to stream music.
Your car is likely wired for a CD changer. The charger would be mounted in the left side of the trunk. Pop the trunk and look for a pair of unused cables behind the left trunk liner. One will have 3 pins and the other will have 6 or more pins. The cables are typically bound together at the factory. However, do check the back of the head unit for an unused port (connector) as some series do have a connector and not wiring for the changer.
The simplest way to install Bluetooth that’ll stream music is to buy and install a Bluetooth module that connects at the back of the head unit. This makes installation straightforward. The other installioption is to use the 2 CD changer cables in the trunk. The Bluetooth module would connect to these cables.
I checked GROM audio but they don’t make any Bluetooth solution for your car. Dang!
