    No spark

HI all I'm a new guy here. I need some help with my bmw 1996 318i 4 cylinder. A friend of mine gave me this car cause he couldnt figure out what was wrong with it and now i have the same problem. no spark no run issue. I do know that my problem lies with pin 25 shorting out and a ground issue with the ecm or dmc well when i first got it It started up but only ran on cylinder 2 and 3 and when it was running i notice some smoke comin from the coil pack. so i replaced it and still run in 2 and 3 so i check wires plugs all good so i un hook the dmc and sent it in to have repaired they sent it back saying they fixed 1 and 4 so i figured all good i plug it in and no spark I sent it back and they fixed it again and said pin 25 was shortin out and theres a ground issue. so i havent plugged it in afraid i will blow some again i check power to coil good then i tested pin 25 24 52 51 contineity that was good so i tested each cylinder wire to the numbered pin with omes pin 25 cyl1 was 1.3 52 pin is cyl 2 3.2 24 pin cyl 3 4.5 and pin51 cyl 4 1.7 now i have no idea what to do next Its a nice clean car and id hate to take it to the junk yard for scrap can some body please help me.

Please try to proof read before you post, it's difficult to read a run on sentence and no punctuation.

You may want to trace the wires and visually inspect them to make sure there are no pinched or burnt wires, two of the wires read high. Also there is usually a resistor on the ground, below is link to electrical diagrams and you also download the bentley manual, you should verify that the resistor is good.

Also you should pull all the coils and check each ones primary and secondary resistance before using them.

    welcome to the fourm!
