    Vaico Valve Covers?

    Ello there,
I own a 2008 328i with the N52 under the hood. Also under that hood is a burning smell upon startup when cold. This points to the valve cover gasket AND/OR cracked valve cover.

Has anyone had good or bad experience with VAICO valve covers? I see that OEM replacement only lasts about 50k miles, so I figure that the aftermarket part has to be worth trying. Am I right in thinking this?

Also, what is the probability of my car having a cracked valve cover? The car did sit before being sold, I do believe.

    Thanks guys!

I would never use an aftermarket valve cover. I don't even use aftermarket gaskets!

Using cheap parts to save a few bucks almost always leads to more expense down the road.
