My shift knob came off a couple of weeks ago, first time that has ever happened to me. I attempted to purchase a knob on Ebay. first it was sent to the wrong address and when it finally did arrive, it was the wrong knob. Ebay did a great job resolving the issue and now I have a knob that I do not need. While the issue was being resolved, I ordered the correct weighted M knob from Turner. The knob I have is not weighted but is the same size and shape as the Turner one.
Here is a link to a knob on Ebay that looks like what I received:

Just pay for shipping and I will send it you.
PM sent
Looks like it has a new home.
Any damage to the rear view mirror or your chin while pulling off the old knob are at the installers risk.

Lol I once removed mine while doing some servicing and thought i had put it back on tight enough. Later that night the light went green for the 476 on ramp so I put my foot down hard in first and then as I threw it into second my arm and the knob just kept going and the knob flew out of my hand and landed in the trunk of my coupe so I just had to shift the rest of the way with the metal rod lol. Shouldve tightened it down properly before trying to do a hard shift
That ZHP shift knob is great.
I have the same one.
Shorter and heavier than the original.
You should have kept it.

Just passing it alone to a good home where it can be appreciated. I already have car parts for cars I don't even have anymore...need to get them out of the garage this year.

Thats funny. Thinking about it, the knob did come out of my hand and that startled me for a moment. The wires keep it next to the boot but it would have gone flying if they were not there. Felt very odd shifting with just the shift rod. Glad I wasn't on a track when this happened.
Looking at pictures of my pre-purchased M Roadster, I picked out a new shift knob. Now that the car is in my garage, I’m happy with the original.

Now that I shipped the Ebay knob, I installed the Tuner knob. Since my original knob had already came off, it was easy to remove it and the boot came off with a little tug. Disconnected and taped up (weatherproofing) the knob light connector and put it all back together.
The shift throw is shorter and I am pleased with the results. I will miss the lighted face, but the lighted knob with the shorter throw was a little too expensive.

Haven’t driven it at night yet, so I had no idea it’s lighted. Cool!
20k miles on mine, so the original knob should stay put for a while.

You need to take it out at night and get some miles on it, I am sure you will enjoy the car.
My car had 40K miles on it when the knob failed, time and heat is the killer of the plastics plasticizer which makes the plastic pliable. I also had issues with several items due to the lack of running the car, they like to be driven.

Not a whole lot of taking it out until spring. They’ve already salted the roads here.
I installed it, pics as promised. The knob that came with the car was apparently not BMW. It was held on with set screws and is about 1-1/2 inches taller. So now it's like a short shifter. I have to move my MP3 control because my thumb now hits it when putting car in reverse. My car is really cool now. Before, it was just kinda cool. thanks again.........................................IMG_0351.JPGIMG_0352.JPGIMG_0353.JPG
