I am prepping a 2004 M3 to SCCA Solo STU rules. Replacing the battery is legal. In my E36 M3 I have managed with a Deka EXD12 battery. How small can I go for an S54? I know it will take more, but not sure how small I can go.
A lot of great discussion here.

TLDR: Braille GU1R seems to be popular but if you are willing to spend a bit more Antigravity ATX-20 (or other Lithium-Ion batteries)
Thanks for the reference. The Braille is stupid expensive. I had one of the non-lithium batteries in an E36 328. Didn't live any longer than its replacement did (Deka $90 battery). So, someone mentioned a lithium battery at a parts store. I just ordered this. Specs are available be scrolling the link. For the price difference it is worth a try. https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/autocraft-lithium-power-sport-battery-lfp-8/10570100-P?

P.S. Going in an 04 M3.
Sorry i got them mixed up, Odyssey PC680 is the non-lithium battery several people mentioned. https://www.amazon.com/Odyssey-PC680.../dp/B0002ILK6I
So, I bought the battery at Advanced Auto. All of 4.3 lbs !!! And 500 CCA. BUT, no terminals to allow the cable terminal the hood to it. Found some on line for $10, so that should do it. Total outlay under $200.
