Introducing myself as a new owner. Found this car on Cargurus.com from a dealership in Virginia. It was being sold on consignment for its original owner who newly purchased in 1999. Original mileage as purchased by me was 19,928. It’s as close to perfect as it can get. Shipped to our front door in Wisconsin this morning.
My wife and I are totally blown away by it. We’re both retired, live in the country and plan on enjoying this car every chance we get. Took it out for an 80 mile test ride today and couldn’t be more impressed. Unfortunately, winter is here, so all we can do for the next several months is look at it in our attached garage. I also have a 2017 BMW F700GS motorcycle, so it’ll be in good company.
Jack stands are ordered. The only thing I plan on doing in the near future is mechanical clutched fan removal. Reading all the posts on here convinced me to do this. I doubt that Local Wisconsin country drives will cause any over heating issues. The car never saw rain or inclement weather, so everything is like brand new. All rubber components are clean with no signs of hardening or cracking. Once I get it up on stands, I’ll check the Guido for cracks and replace if necessary. I have a Windblox rear screen ordered. I also plan on replacing all fluids to insure a good baseline.
All I can say is WOW and hurry up Spring!
And, by the way, this forum rocks. I’ve been reading everything on here for months. It definitely helped me in my long search for the right roadster. Thanks to one and all for that.
Cheers...
P.S. How do I get permission to post pictures. When I clicked on Manage Attachments, it said it was restricted and I do not have access???

You have to post more. I can't remember if it's 10 or 100
Ah, yes. I do remember reading that.
Thanks.
Welcome and congratulations! It's been a while now (!) but we bought our first BMW, also an M Rdstr, in November while living in Ohio. It too was perfect, 5400 miles and a CPO; we were the 3rd owner when the car was 1-1/2 yrs old. That was November 11, 2000. Nowadays, it has about 96,000 miles on it, and except for a little rash and there, is still in superlative condition.
While this isn't the very first picture I took of the car, it was within a few days, and ranks as one of my favorites!
If you want to get some pictures up__and WE ALL want to see them, just start making a few comments on everybody else's post (or contact the moderator directly, telling him you're a new owner) and you'll be in good standing before you know it!
Agree. I have many thousands of posts on the fz09 motorcycle forum. I know the number will rise quickly here, especially now that I’ve become an owner.
Nice M on your post!
Welcome.
Love my M Roadster.

get ready to fall in love again. these are wonderful cars
Thanks. Lucky you!
Thanks and too late on the stands. I got a different set of Amazon stands and pads on a separate order and can’t cancel the active order. See, I should have asked about these things first.
Yup. Already in love. They are amazing on the road.

Very nice! I do think all sports cars look faster in red. BTW, I believe the tonneau tucks under the deck on the trailing edges so as to not flap or mar the paint-just in case you thought otherwise (and if I am incorrect about that someone will correct my assumption, I am sure). Too bad it is off the road for the next few months, but just think that when spring comes, you get the thrill all over again...
Thank you.
Yes, the tonneau tucked in very nicely. Thanks for pointing that out.
As far as waiting for spring to get thrilled all over again, I get that every time I see it in the garage.

Nice find! Let the fun begin.
Welcome. Where are you in Wisconsin? There are a few Z3 and M Roadster owners here. Come join us next spring when the weather is accommodating again.
Oh, one other thing: either store with top up or if not, then I’d recommend putting bath towel over the window to help reduce the potential for the crease that develops.
For some reason I can't see your posted pics
Location updated on profile. West Bend, Wisconsin.
It will be covered with the top up for winter storage. Got a couple of things to do first. Right now, I’m polishing and sealing with my orbital machine. Front completed. Very smooth and slippery with zero swirl patterns.
No idea why pictures are not showing up for you. They work for me and everyone else so far.

Good for you. Nice car for a retired couple (we too), ours used to be my wife's dd in WA. We retired to Sonoma County, previously in Renton, WA and Burlington, WI. We've been following the Mike Miller schedule for maintenance (BMWCCA)
Obviously well taken care of, but I have found that some of the plastic parts get very brittle with age, not use necessarily. So don't be surprised if your expansion tank blows out or the little plastic neck connector on the radiator gives way.
Thanks. I’ll keep an eye on that.
Can’t see pics either!
Strange. I uploaded them under the Manage Attachments tool. You might want to check with one of the administrators about your settings.
Not even sure thats correct for E30's...
If you store any soft top without tension, it will relax in that position and as soon as you go to use the top in the extended, tensioned postion, it will rip
I think the top is best left in its "up" position. The reasoning being for this is that if the material relaxes and "remembers" that position, it will look fine. If the top "remembers" the stowed down position, it will develop creases in the fabric when put up and possibly rip if stored down for a very very long time then put up
