Team,
New member here but long time lurker.... first off, thanks to everyone here, I have learned more about E38s than I thought I ever would from this forum. OK, so here is the deal, I'm thinking of selling my car. I really don't drive her as much as I used to and would really prefer to sell her to someone that is going to drive and treat her the way she deserves. So I'm looking for opinions on value... Now I know used cars are worth what someone will pay, but, I'm just really looking for a ballpark range.
So here are the details:
Located on East coast in Virginia
1998 750IL, V12, 163000 miles.
CONS:
Currently needs a battery and is no start/crank. Its going to my indie this weekend so this should be fixed by next week.
Sunroof headliner cloth is missing.
Has had a check engine light since Ive had her
Few pixels out on dash, may try a ribbon cable next couple weeks
Only one key
PROS:
V12, V12, V12 and oh yea, its a V12
Everything works, to include NAV... I mean everything
No rust, huge dents, rips or tears
New tires, less than 2000 miles
Engine purrs and trans shifts smooth, both in auto and manual
New ABS sensors all way around
So that all that comes to mind at the moment. What do you guys think shes worth???? Im trying to post some pics also but having some issues at this time...
Thanks in advance!!
Just take those fake ebay vents off the fenders and those chrome handles....
Those little details really kill the price. If it was running and driving and you knew and could prove why the CEL is on maybe 5K. Being an E38 fan and maybe looking to upgrade I would be looking at the details. Service records are another sweetener. If someone knew how many parts are not 20 years old that always helps. Overall nice looking car.

$2-3K maybe as it sits.
1998 BMW E38 740il - Vermont Grün Metallic, 150k miles, all stock. 11/98 build.
2011 Range Rover Supercharged - Rimini Red, Jet/Jet Interior.
2018 Mercedes GLE 350 - Diamond White, Soccer Mom kid-hauler.
1970 Chevy Chevelle - Pro-touring, 496ci BBC, custom everything.
Lose the doo-dads. $2k.
That said, too bad you are in VA. Looks like a solid car.

Nothing wrong with the black grills or rain guards, just lose the chrome handle covers and fender vents. Very clean looking.
As it sits, 2k max. No start is a serious issue.
Running, 3-4k maybe. Looks like a nice car. CEL hits you hard on these, it's almost always costly. Sort out the issues. Good running, no CEL, I'd start at 5k. Wouldn't expect to get it, but it's a fair starting price.
My .02 cents
Guys, as I said in my post, the no start/crank is being fixed... No way I would try sell it with it not running... and it runs perfect even with the CEL.... thanks
$1300 - $2100
Man the guys are cheap on here. Fix her up and shoot for 5k
