Has anyone ever made a cowl hood for their e36? I’m trying to decide between molding in a pre made cowl or cutting my stock hood along the line where the stock “cowl” is and welding in some sheet metal to raise it a couple inches. I’m in the process of Ls swapping and I need more hood clearance for my engine setup. Also I’m new to the forum so if this is in the wrong section please let me know I couldn’t think of a better category.

you have any luck with this? I was considering doing the same thing.
I have seen on pic where a dude cut the center cowl section out of a stock hood and then welded and molded that in, he had moved it back on the hood like a foot though.
Not yet. Since posting I’ve found a couple e36’s with cowls I’m currently trying to decide between one of those or making my own. I’ll try to update with pictures in a bit.
For a real cowl, I think this one is one of the best out there. Bonus points the way the air cleaner fits in the hood braces.

Now that looks real nice
Agreed that cowl is the best i've seen. The FrakenBimmer has one kind of like it but much taller
that's the best "universal" one ive seen yet.
the frankenbimmer cowl is cartoonishly big, neat though.
I really just would like to exaggerate the stock cowl lines up at max like 2" - 2.5" to clear my big ass 5.0 intake. ive considered getting a donor hood and cutting the cowl out of it and grafting that on to my hood. that way I can keep more of the original bracing, especially toward the back by the windshield-cowl.
