    RD Bumper Filler Remake

As many of us know, the RD Bumper Filler piece is no longer available, and essentially unobtanium. The last reproduction piece of this was made over 10 years ago. Two forum members are setting out to have this piece manufactured. To do so, we will require a MINIMUM of 10 orders. Please see the parts for sale thread for more information.

Here is a picture of the piece on George Whiteley's CSi. I placed this when I owned the car, and it goes in with 2 bolts from the back side, and can be done with the bumper in place.

This piece may be used on non-CSi and CSi front ends.

Not 3D printed -- this is going to be a one piece fiberglass insert that bolts in. It will require some sanding and painting, but not like those 3D parts require to get rid of all the little ridges.

Mike and I continue our work on this. We have identified an automotive grade fiberglass custom manufacturer who will probably do our manufacturing. They have done work for several large custom vehicle manufacturers, and are very interested in helping us bring this to completion. If you are interested, please PM me. We already have several who are on the list.

Hi everyone. Just an update. It looks like we have enough interest to start this project. I will be getting the piece to the fabricator this month, and Mike and I will contact everyone interested with exact specifics. I am not sure how many we will make, but will fill orders to those who pre-order, so if you want one, please let us know. We do not plan on making a lot of extra ones at first, so if you want one please PM me here or just add your name to this list.

This piece can be used with both the regular nose and CSi nose.

Price will be around $275 which will include shipping within the lower 48 states. We will be able to ship overseas and to areas outside of the US, and can check on shipping rates.

Here are a couple of pictures of the painted part, just to give everyone a better idea of what we are talking about, while these are being made.

OK everyone - we are definitely a GO on this. You can see what it will look like from Mike's pictures above.

We already have over 10 commitments for this, so I will be taking the piece to the fabricator in in the next couple of weeks - depending on the Holidays.

Mike and I have discussed this, so here is how it will work:

    1. After we get a firm commitment from the fabricating company, we will set the final price. It will be NO MORE than $275 shipped within the 48 continental states. If we can get a good price from the fabricator, it will be less, and we will let everyone know - and that is our goal - to produce it as reasonable for everyone as possible. We want to do this for the community, and that's why we are taking this on.

    2. Units will be pre-ordered and pre-paid by anyone who wants one. Mike and I are well known within the E31 community - so you won't have to worry about us taking everyone's money and eloping to the Bahamas. Plus, our wives would probably not like that either!

    3. We will contact everyone who has said that they want one with the specifics. We will also post the final price here if others want to join in.

As all of you know, the last remake of these was done over 10 years ago. You cannot find them, so this will be an opportunity to pick one up. If you want to be added to the list, PM me or send an email to: rdbumperfiller(at)gmail.com

Apart from here on bimmerforums, I have gotten well over 20+ people signed up for this on facebook as well Roger. I will send all candidates to you and Mike on FB messenger so you can add them to the list. As soon as I get a chance tonight or tomorrow.

    cheers

RD Bumper Filler Reproduction - its a GO!

Mike and I have worked with a manufacture to do a LIMITED PRODUCTION RUN of the RD Bumper Filler Reproduction. The last time this piece was made was over 10 years ago, and they are virtually non-existent. It turns out that due to the complex curves and nature of the boxed section with non-drawing surfaces, the fully boxed piece will have to be formed out of 2 sections, then joined and finished, and the manufacturing process is more complex than Mike and I thought. The finish will be of Automotive Grade primer, with stainless steel mounting hardware.

If you wish to get in on this limited production run, this will be a pre-paid purchase, with an estimated completion date of March - April 2019. Mike and I are not going to get rich doing this. We just wanted to make the piece available to those who have expressed a wish to have one.

Price for each item, which includes shipping within the continental United States, is $295 each.

If you wish to be included in this limited production run, then here are the steps:

    1. Send an email to: rdbumperfiller(at)gmail.com
    2. Include the following: Full Name, shipping address, number of units wanted
3 Send $295 for each piece and make sure to say that the money is being sent as a gift. Send the funds via Paypal. The Paypal account to send the money to is: rdw95(at)juno.com

If you would rather pay by check or have any questions, please send a request to:
    rdbumperfiller(at)gmail.com for address information.

Cutoff date for orders will be February 8, 2019.

    Thanks,
    Mike and Roger

Thanks for the recent orders. For those overseas, send an email or PM me here, and we can check on shipping costs.

We spoke with the company today and set everything in motion. Again, if you want one let us know as this will be a limited production run, and once gone that will probably be it.
