Surely this information already exists somehwere, but searching the forum for Dexron draws a blank oddly...
"Traditionally" Dexron II is the correct Power Steering Fluid for most BMWs I've encountered , but the E87 is the newest BMW I've had and I want to be 100% certain..
What does your user manual say? No sticker on the reservoir lid?
On my 1988 E32 750 there is a green sticker which mentions that this model with self levelling rear shocks and dual power steering pump + hydraulic brake booster needs Pentosin CHF 7.1 special power steering fluid (not ATF)

Owners manual only mentions the engine oil spec.
I know some take Pentosin but usually there is a green ring on the reservoir that says so.
Actually, Dexron3 has been the go to fluid for the power steering system. That and a more exotic Pentsoin fluid. My current bimmer’s fluid is electricity. It has electric steering. Gott im Himmel.
realoem shows for a 2007 120i E87 RHD 2 versions, Pentosin CHF 11S or ATF, depending on the label, see here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=32_1513
I am no expert for the E87, let's wait till someone else chimes in with E87 knowledge
What is the VIN?
does it have a green cap or has active suspension ? https://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum...fluid-t135217/
