So i own a 1994 325i with a 5 speed manual. And today as i was going to downshift i pushed in the clutch and it had no resistance and just stayed on the floor. Now this was and wasnt just out of nowhere, my car started doing weird things yesterday where it wouldnt come out of or go into gear unless i let out of the clutch while in neutral and then pushed it back in. I was told it’s probably just a bad slave cylinder as there still seems to be fluid in the system, is there any way to actually tell what it is without going and replacing things first?
Check very carefully whether there is brake fluid dripping from the bottom of the transmission bellhousing, Even better, unbolt the slave from the transmission, without undoing the hydraulic line, and see whether it's wet.

If you aren't loosing fluid it's not the slave. A failed slave always leaks. The master can be bad without leaking externally.
A failed master can have bad internal seals which allow the piston to move without displacing enough fluid to actuate the slave. It doesn't leak but it still doesn't work.
Your need for "double clutching" is indicative of the clutch not being actuated fully. Probably one of the above items.

If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
I need to buy a new hose to run to my slave cylinder. Any suggestions?
