Early E31 3 spoke steering wheel (no airbag style)

Just received this wheel from a forum member, but I was able to make the wheel I already had work in my 840Ci.... I paid $250 only five days ago, just looking to get something back to minimize my losses on this crazy steering wheel project!

Wheel is in usable condition, but does show wear; could use new leather and a new center section due to missing thumb nubs and cracked roundel. $100 + shipping

Wheel for sale is shown on the left

Here's the actual wheel installed just for reference (shown with my center cover)... I think this is one of the best looking steering wheels for the E31.

Wow, it's starting to look like I grossly overpaid for the wheel in the first place (and/or I'm the only one who finds these wheels attractive in the E31 lol).

Exact wheel l have installed on my "8". It's way more attractive than the standard US version steering wheel. My wheel was from a "UK" 8series hand delivered by the seller duration his LA visit. Can't believe your steering wheel is still available.

While the wheel is attractive, I think the "no airbag" is what's holding it up.

You think that airbag is functional after all these years?

Probably not, but just to be on the compliance side. Insurance may have some problems with removing the airbag completely. I haven't looked, but how hard are they to find?

Just FYI guys: The wheel I got from Wuffer (shown for sale above) is not an airbag model and has no provision for one. The wheel I already had (which is now installed in my car) was a transitional model intended to be fitted to cars that didn't yet have the chassis wiring for the SRS system.

That said, to answer Mark's question, the single stage airbags for the 3 spoke variants are indeed very hard to find... but after some poking around on my workbench, one appeared! LOL (p.s. I'm in the middle of restoring my most recent E38 back to stock, hence the E46 M3 wheel next to the proper E38 Sport wheel).

Happy to include this spare 'transitional' airbag with Wuffer's wheel (or sell it separately), although it will not fit the wheel itself. And BTW, 2004 is the 'expiration' year...so this was a 1994 Airbag when new.

p.s. always store airbags inflation side up!
