    INPA help for 2008 X3

    Sob story here:
    https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...er-replacement

Short version is I have an INPA laptop I use for my E36 and E38. Those cars I use the OBDII cable with the round underhood adapter and it works great, but I can’t ready any codes on the X3. Will need to double check the error message, but IFH-009 or something rings a bell.

    Any help is welcome.

You need a D-CAN cable to read the engine module on the X3. And probably need to solder pins 7 and 8 to read any other module.

Here’s the cable I am using. I will spring for a known good one though.

Is the cable in D-CAN mode?

There’s no switch on it. Is there a software method of changing mode?

Also pins 7 and 8 do not appear the be jumpered but at this point just want to read engine codes anyway.

    Thanks!

Try using dcan tools to initiate the dcan cable setting after plugging the cable in...

Sadly running the dcan tool did not work. Maybe it's the cable. Thanks for the link and for sending the dcan software Purp.

I just bought this same dcan cable. Were you able to get it to work?
