So i have an supercharged m52 1996 328i e36
Have had it since 2004. In 2007, VF-Engenering kit, only one dfrence is im running 10 psi insted of 6psi 312hp 297tq recorded at the wheels, its my daily driver love this convertible 328i, so i was thinking about some cams,
1.)what brand of cams would work best with this supercharger kit ?
2.)what have you guys have experianced with as far as cams go?
3.)and hopefuly the dyno numbets ? Or any result/experience.
Also my engine is built
Block is M52 honed up to 0.5mm each cylinder from stock. Yes wider piston.
JE pistons 9 to 1 compression ratio, with 4 oilers, and cylinder reduction groves, thick skirts to withstand lots of boost and heat rated over 45psi, and boost rated je piston rings.
Crower high performance forged pauder rods, that were x-rayed for internal cracks before the install, "I beams", they called them. Than crank was balanced up to 10.000rpm to a dime.
Ported cylinder head, and exhaust areas/entrance's are wider than normal, almost the size of an S50 intake manifold ports.
ARP head studs. cometic headgasket.
Stock M52 cams; stock M52 lifters; stock M52 springs. Vf engineering re flash ecu that is also M52.
I have also a aem stand along engine management ecu laying around for my car if you guy have something that Im going to need to get it tooned with cams.
Please help me pick the cams that would favor my set up ... anyone??

A set of s52 cams would be an improvement. Those usually sell for around 400 plus shipping.
I may have a set if you’re interested shoot me a pm.

I know s52 cams would be an improvment. But I'm trying to get something that will surpass that, I'm looking for a stricly Supercharger cam. Something That S52 guys use after they get rid of their cams. Money is not an issue. I'm looking for a best Supercharger cam that would probably need some tuning done. I'm looking for something better than E36 M3, MZ3 Schrick 256 Exhaust Camshaft with 10.6mm Lift

Stage 2 VAC Supercharger cam's?

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with them. I was thinking about getting some for my SC setup this winter.
I had a set of schricks on my old Rms stage 2 kit. With stock s50 headers, aa track pipe , aa tune , and 10-11psi it made 394whp/312wtq.

I ran Schrick 264/256 on my S52 when supercharged as well. Worked great. Add inter cooling, add meth, raise the boost, swap in an S52. Then go turbo. Your built engine would be great with a turbo. Supercharger is limited. Many of us had them before going turbo. 50% more power potential. I went from 450 rwhp to 675 rwhp.
I have a set of used Schrick supercharger cams laying around that i wouldn't mind getting rid of if you decide you want to go that route. I bought them for a supercharger build but have sense ditched that and gone turbo
Marc1119 aka Marco get get you a tune via AA

I know I'm always thinking about it.... like I should of went turbo, but I went with a Supercharger, my goal is to complete a Supercharger built at 400+ hp. and than I'll find me another stock e36 m3 or 328i. Drop my S/C, cams, tune, get cylinder head ported, studs and low compression head gasket, pretty much just transfer the whole set up, to the what ever e36 car that I find, because I strongly believe that stock M52 or S52 will have no problem withstanding 400- 450hp on stock internals. And than I will start looking into turboing my build.
What do you think about 264/270 cams ? Will I gain more power with "270" or is it too risky of a cam ?
I forgot to tell you guys that I also run a header in my Supercharger set up, I have a super sprint long tube header, and cat deleted mid pipe, ends with dinan exhaust.

264/270 cams would be too aggressive, too much valve overlap. The VAC cams sound good, I heard metricmechanic.com can setup SC cams, and then you have Schrick 264/256 cams. I run the Schricks, they did have to be offset slightly (degreed) due to overlap from 5800 rpm on. AA wound up doing that. Are you running headers and track pipe, or some type of upgraded midpipe, and exhaust?

I would skip the "supercharger" cams and go with the milder 264/256 cams for the supercharger, not the 270/264. You will gain some on the top end but not lose much on the bottom end. Also, based on your description of the motor, it is still around 2.8L and already has less torque. Or just go with S50 or S52 cams, which will gain power over M52 cams. Yes, stock block M52/S52 in good condition, with lowered compression and/or race gas, can support 500-600 rwhp no problem. Torque is the deciding factor more than rwhp. I ran stock rods with up to about 570 lbs rwtq for a while before building a motor.
Unfortunately, it is hard to fit a water to air intercooler with the VFE kit you have. Maximum Psi made at least one custom unit years ago but its not a cheap way to go. There was one guy in CT who stuffed a small generic one down into the area above the motor mount arm, ran E85 and the car made great power. He is still around but turbo now and not very active here. Unfortunately, I cant remember the screen name. Others have fit air to air intercoolers. Look up 350zimo. You want intercooling if you want 400 rwhp.
I ran USA spec Supersprint or replica headers, midpipe and rear. And then changed to larger Euro Supersprint and RMS parts. I made over 400 rwhp through the USA spec stuff.
Ok than 264 intake cam and 256 exhaust cam.
My motor I believe is around 3.0, 3.1ish
because I'm only .05mm over bore on every cylinder. stock M52 wich is bore3.31x3.31stroke=2.8L, and mine is 3.36, but than I do have the Crower rods they are designed for S52, so that makes me a bore3.36x3.53stroke=3.1.777...cc . Where S52 crank shaft is the same as M52 crank shaft, as far as I know. S52 pistons are wider and rods are a bit longer makes it bore3.40x3.53stroke=3.2liter S52 well to be more accurate it's more like 3.1.999...cc they just round them numbers up.

Lol..... When I was building my engine I had S50 and S52 engines laying around, I disassemble them all we could not see the difference in M52 crank vs S52 but we did see the difference in rods and that S52 rod appeared a bit thicker and longer.

I’d get your vision checked. Cranks are different. Rods are identical.
