    Girlfriend and the curb

My girlfriend struck a curb with the front wheel on my 2006 Z4M. Local shop wants 100 Euro to fix it and it will take 2-3 days. Is there a source for used wheels under $150?

Apparently there are two colors, one is a rather dull finish and the other highly finished. Where can I find a code to know what I have?

Are you planning to restore the entire wheel after every curb damage or girlfriend drive?

You can perform a simple touch up using aluminum putty, sandpaper and touch up paint.

    Aluminium putty:

For the touch up paint you would have to either post images of your rims and hopefully someone can recognize the color or you can contact BMW with your VIN for your specific color code. Once you have the correct code you can get the paint custom mixed at any auto paint supplies store.

There is a dedicated forum section for Z4 wheels:

When you accumulate repeat damage over the years then it maybe a good time for a complete wheel restoration.

Another way to obtain your exact wheel color code is by using the BASF Glasurit database.
Visit the supplied link, enter your vehicles year make and model and select ‘wheels’ under ‘applications’. It will give you a list of all the possible colors (and their mixing formulas) that were used on wheels of this specific vehicle during that year.
Here is what was listed for 2006 Z4 wheels. You can google images for the grey color codes (A44 & 144) and see if it is a match. Both colors are available for sale on eBay.

A little OCD about this stuff...

Perhaps I should find a girlfriend that can drive. I think this one's driving instructor was hitting on her, told her she could be a race car driver, of course she believes that. If I ride with her she is all over the road, I mean all over the road. Likes to drive on the extreme right, I think she is afraid of oncoming traffic, her 325 has steel rims and hub caps.

Maybe yet I find a German friend that does not drive............
