Aftermarket Source for Vert Covering Door

Anybody know of an aftermarket source for these little covering doors (left pt# 51431945355) that cover the top's frame compartment when the top is down? These are $150 in most places for a flat plastic door. Should be about $10.

This is a whole assembly. I just need the door. It looks like the door is removable but I haven't tried it yet. Suggestions welcome.

That is not the right part^^

OP, beyond salvage yard or a local part-out, you're out of luck, you'll have to order the whole thing. The door is however detachable from the main piece.

I'm torn on the ridiculous prices on some of the plastic pieces across the BMW spectrum for older models. Plastic trim pieces for the back of my e39 touring are crazy high. On the one hand, the prices are ridiculous and it seem like price gouging. But on the other hand, I can still buy brand new parts from the factory for my 28 year old car!! That can't be said for a lot of car companies. I assume part of the price increases are due to the lower volume of parts that are made for older vehicles, since economy of scale discounts are no longer realized.

I worked for bmw for quite a few years. They know there is a resurgence for e30 interest and have taken advantage of this by increasing the prices to some parts by as much as 400% Those covertible flaps you are asking for are now in the midst of 150.00 ea side. At one time they were in the 30.00 range. So yes you are screwed like most of us if you want to get new parts. Nobody is producing parts where there is little demand and for 10.00 not worth producing since the set up gig would just in the hundreds of thousands. Now if you could find someone to 3D print these it would be affordable I'm sure.

I think I responded to you on yahoo. I have one side available fully functioning which I'd sell for 50.00. finding a door will be a witch hunt and the only way you will if someone has a broken flap. you'll have to wait a while or hit a local bone yard maybe you'll get lucky. pm me if you're interested.
