Hey guys my intention today was to just replace the cracked console that holds the shifter radio and such.
However I have found a few disturbing things. Since I never opened it since I bought the car, I'm guessing PO had a critter in there. So I have to clean it out. Some wires look like they had their casing chewed on so I'll have to fix that too.
Problem I have is the radio. Its an aftermarket Pioneer single din dvd player. It works great for what I use it for. The wiring is atrocious. They used those pinch connectors on the BMW wiring harness. I want to clean that up. I need a good aftermarket connector that will connect to the existing BMW connector.
Also the mounting is a bit odd. Looks like the bent the metal bracket to it clips onto the frame of the console cover. I would like it if there was something that allows the radio to move freely in and out of the din. So looking for suggestions here if any of you have done this.
Another thing I need is the caps for the console that covers the screws. Are these the right ones? 51168108962
The BMW to ISO loom is freely available on Ebay for a couple of quid - I use one here:
