Hey guys, been lurking for a while now and been trying to soak in as much information as possible to guide me on my journey of putting a turbo on my M52B28TU. It has less than 70k and is in really good condition, was well looked after before it sat down for a while then made it's way to myself.
I've seen quite a few different opinions and ways of doing this, not so much on the TU version of the engine with the alloy block. My goal for now is around 400 WHP, from what i've seen on here that is very possible with the alloy block if I use the Raceware studs. I'm not 100% on what to do with the compression ratio, I've seen some people use decompression plates, some use copper spacer with a cutring and some just put a uprated gasket alone.
I already have my turbo which is a Holset HX35W which I feel is the best choice as this will be a street car but can still have lots of fun in it. I believe the stock internals can only handle around 18-22 Psi, not sure about the alloy block though.
So, basically If I could pick some peoples brains if they've done this themselves or have any useful information, please let me know below! Once the build is in full swing I don't mind posting a build thread.
Hey, did you turbo it?? I have a e38 728i M52TUB28 and i'mplanning on doing the same thing. Is this engine reliable with turbo? and what the cost?
