Fuel gauge when not using factory cluster

Im still working on my e36 track toy... Just curious what anyone here has done for a fuel gauge when not using the factory cluster? I've installed a digital dash so factory fuel gauge is gone and from the searching I've done so far I haven't found any solid options that work with our factory sending unit.

I use an old AiM dashboard (MyChron3), and this tied directly to the OEM sender unit.
It's not perfect. I wish it were buffered more. Like, 20sec/gal or something. It'll show quite a bit of fuel level change in a longish turn. But, you learn what all that means.

I wish that was an option for me but my dash is on a much lower level than that, shows basic information and unable to get any data logging and doesn't support plug ins it was a cheap impulse purchase at the start of my build lol I'm in need of a more stand alone fuel gauge that somehow works with out sensing unit.

But as that changes our fuel info into a voltage reading of 0-5volts... I almost wonder if I can wire a volt meter to that and use it as a numerical reference for how much fuel I have

I have no knowledge of this but every time I've seen similar threads in different car forums, it's way too complicated and just not worth the effort. Stock fuel tank is nice because it's hidden giving you trunk space for tyres and tools, which is the reason I've kept it. Then again you also have to deal with fuel sloshing and starvation during corners. When you mentioned the multi meter it reminded me of this video if it helps you in anyway:

start watching from 5:30 onwards and it's mentioned what you are thinking of doing. On Corbin's channel there might be more info how he wired it all in, I don't know.

That's kinda just what I was thinking. I've got a few tech genius buddy's too so maybe I can bribe one of them to make me an led indicator setup. Green to yellow to red maybe

    Fuel Level

I've been struggling with this one myself and ended up just reading the ohms from the wires coming off the tank. As much of pain as this is you can track very specific fuel usage.

For reference here are the values for specific gallons

    Gallons of Fuel Ohms

    Empty 29

    2 65

    5 155

    10 300

    15 465

    16.5 495

That is a fantastic help! Thank you so much for the info. If I come up with a good way to view the data I'll share it with you all
