A) 2003 325i KL85471 started throwing DM-TL Leak Detected (Peake). The gas cap o-ring is very cracked. Thought I would start with that.
Parts house wants $26 for cap and o-ring, dealership wants $36.
Is there a part number for just the O-Ring?
B) Intermittent wiper is acting up. Swipes once when engaged but nothing after. Switch car off with intermittent wiper engaged and it will swipe several times when the car is restarted but quits after a short while. Changing the interval time up (decrease) will swipe once for each click.
Where should I start looking?
A. Remove cap seal and flip over. Other side should be like new.
B. There is no intermittent wiper mode. Our cars have a rain sensor in the windshield by the rear view mirror. The adjustment is for rain sensor sensitivity not delay time. What you described is normal for a dry windshield. Pour water on the windshield in the area of the rain sensor and the wiper should go until the windshield is clear.

A) The existing O-Ring has enough little cracks in it that I don't think it will come out without breaking.
B) It's been raining all day here. This was not done dry but full rain wet. My guess is the rain sensor is pooping out ... there is an interval adjust knob in the control stick, at least on mine. I'll upload a pic when I get a sec.

The adjustment wheel on the stalk is the sensitivity adjustment.

The wipers are controlled by the General Module 5 (GM5) that’s located above the fuse panel. Go to www.bmwgm5.com to learn more about it. The person who owns the website also repairs GM5 modules.
