I took a used 2016 3 Series for a test drive for the first time today. This would be my first BMW. I like to drive with my left foot on the footrest/dead pedal. When I did so, the plastic storage bin towards the bottom of the driver side door was always up against my calf. At first I thought I could just get used to postioning my leg differently or that it wouldn't bother me, but back at the dealer I sat in a model on the floor and was annoyed by the same thing.
Has anyone else had a problem with this? Having not looked at the door too closely, how possible do you think it would be to take that bin out? The dealer started pushing a 5 Series when I voiced this concern, but that is not what I am interested in.
Thanks.

I sat in mine and held my foot on the dead pedal in all possible ways and couldn't get my calf to touch the door panel. Not intrusive at all. I don't have skinny calves either.
May try a different seat positioning, otherwise, I don't know.

Thank you for taking the time to check for me. What car did you do this in? From the list of cars in your post, it doesn’t seem like you have a 3 Series from 2012-2018. I have a good photo from BMW’s 4 Series Coupe main page (towards the bottom, right above the "Build Your Own" button) that shows the cockpit from the driver’s POV, and you can see the door bin scooping out towards the footrest. I am new to the forum, so I can not post an attachment.
Thanks again.

Lol, my 2014 328d wagon IS a 3-Series from 2012-2018. Last one on the signature list, in order of acquisition.
No worries.
I am very familiar with these cars, and I know their ins and outs quite well. I understand what you are describing, and the 3 series generation classification as well. I will even take a picture if I get a chance one day.

I’ve got a 2016 435ix GC. I use the M dead pedal all the time too. I can’t get my leg to hit the door at all sitting normally in the center of my seat. I’m 6ft, 170lbs. Unless you’re very wide & tall and like to sit waaayy forward with legs splayed, or you’re seriously bow-legged, I don’t see how the door bin gets in the way. I only ever touch mine with my foot getting out of the car.
