Front drive shaft noise

Started yesterday but got louder, there's a noise like a kid putting a card in there bike spokes, its coming from the top of the drivers side front drive shaft under the centre cover, now think its the cv joint but how do you get the cover plate off? All the bolts have loose nuts and no access to them

A common failure is the drive shaft will strip in the front. Maybe check this out and see if it helps.
