    02' M3 Doesn't start/crank.. EWS?

I've got a 02' e46 m3 and it's not turning over (with the ews plugged in) but whenever I put a 30 amp fuse in the female connector it cranks and runs for .5 seconds.

I also have a 01' 325i I've used as a parts car for my m3 and I've replaced the EWS, GM5, and the Ignition switch. I think it may be the EWS but I don't know if I can go on ebay and buy another one from another m3.
(I've also replaced the starter in the m3 that I got brand new from autozone)

Actually I've got a new key for it that I got from the dealer. I only have one but I've ordered the EWS and I'm going to see if that fixes it.

?? Nothing? Well the ews from the dealer didn't work at all.. I've ordered two ak90's (long story) and none of them worked so I'm just stuck. I've also put a fuse on the connector that connects to ews and it does crank and runs for about 1-3 secs then dies. So I'm pretty confused on this.

    Hi Kevo767,

Did you program the new EWS module to your car? You'll also need to add the new key to the system, before the key will work.

Hey thanks for the response. No, I've tried to program my new key to the ews but doesn't and comes up with an error saying "write error" everytime I've tried to program the key (I'm using the ak90 and I bought two and still doesn't work).

Bump.. Just an update I've tried to sync the ews to the dme with inpa and it just shows an error everytime I try.. Is there a was to bypass the EWS? I've heard you can have the dme reflashed and it'll bypass the ews.. (The car does crank when I put a fuse in the connector of the ews)

Dealer keys and ews modules come preprogrammed to the car security. Just a reset of the rolling code table is all that is needed.
Did somebody change out dme and other components?

Yes there is a way to disable ews, through custom dme flashing.

Thanks for the reply. I've got this 325i I'm using as a parts car for my m3. I mean I have no idea if anybody did change out the dme, etc (I only changed out the ews which I did buy from the dealer). I did get the m3 pretty cheap though at a auction that didn't come with a key. I've also replaced the starter, this smg relay, and got the antenna ring from my parts car to see if that was the problem but nope. Tomorrow I'm going to see if me resetting the rolling code will fix it as you said.

    UPDATE:
She's finally running! I deleted the EWS by the flashing the dme then I put a fuse in the connector where the ews would connect to and boom. Now whenever I tried to get it moving the gear indicator flashes "0" whenever I'm in reverse or whenever I put it in auto. I think it could be the hood sensor (it's also pretty low on smg fluid).
