Hello all, just bought my first E21 yesterday, and didn't know if the seats in it are Recaros or just sport seats(I don't know much about E21 options so forgive if this is a dumb question). Thanks for any info.

Those are definitely Recaros, I think they’re LX-C. Had to google to verify

Here she is, picked her up for $400. Sale included a 2002 long block M10, 2 sets of tires, and a couple boxes of goodies. The M10 currently in it has a turbo kit installed on it, and the PO said it was at about 8psi of boost. It does run, however it needs the gas tank(s) cleaned out. It also has quite a bit of rust I need to address...1028181118.jpg

Uhhhh wow. That’s a lot of e21 for $400. Definitely a score!

Interesting
The seats remind me of the fox body recaros.
The Mesh headrests are hard to find. Sounds like you got a great deal. Welcome to the forum
I think I saw this on CL, unless there is another turbo E21 out that way. Asking $800..
Damn, that's a deal with the turbo parts!
Whats the story on BMW's sport seats? Recaros are the only sport seats I was aware of before today.

Tom is referring to the e30 sport seat, like this one. Very well made. You can adjust the seatback angle and tell the mechanism is good.
Acura Integra Seats 35 USD.jpg
I got these Acura seats for $30 for the pair at pick and pull. They are well made too. If you mounted them to the floor you'd be sitting too low, need to shim them up some.

Yes those are Recaros, but the mirrors on your car tell that its an early E21 which didnt come with Recaros as any option so they arent that cars original seats.
Any specs on that turbo kit? Curious to see the exhaust manifold and how the intake manifold is piped.

Thanks for the info! Yeah mine is an early model, built March of 1978. Whomever put them in there went all the way then cause the backseats match.
Not really, I know the turbo is a RHB6, the exhaust manifold doesn't look homemade(I'll get some pics later), and the intake piping isn't very clean at all. It just goes straight to the intake and it doesn't use silicon elbow pipes, just hacked up regular rubber. I'm planning on cleaning it up and putting an intercooler on it(though it doesn't really need one at only 8psi of boost.)
The RHB6 part of the setup is interesting, because Dinan and Callaway used that turbo in their kit. Knowing which exhaust manifold is under all that could be the key to knowing if it was a bunch of parts hacked together or a legit Dinan or Callaway kit. FWIW, the Dinan kit is pretty much unobtanium. The original prototype E21 that Steve Dinan turbo'ed was Henna red and ended up in the hands of a friend of mine here in Florida. I can try to get some pictures of the kit but he took it all apart to get the body stripped down for restore.
