OBD fault code reader / INPA

Hi All, is INPA compatible with Mini's (i have a 2005 S, R53)? Or is there an OBD fault code reader that works best with them? Interested in what is working for other Mini owners.

I am also looking for help getting my INPA configured, but for a 2003 R50. I have the software running great for my 2006 530XI, and I see where bimmergeeks has the daten for the R50. I don't know if it loads like a regular update for my E61 daten, or if I need to do some configuration of any menu screens as well.

TIA for any help members can offer.

I think the INPA version is pretty important.
Take a look in the “Diagnostic Software” section, do a search for your Mini model (R53, etc) and INPA.
There are lots of people on here using the BMW software package to talk to their Mini’s.
Keep in mind that the topic might not actually include your specific car, but that the software can scan many different models.

A quick search turned this up:

It’s a lot to read, but there’s a ton of useful information in there!

I used Windows 7 but not sure that matters.
Last on the cable put the switch all the way to the right (I'll upload a pic)

I want to pick Cooper or Cooper S (2011+) for my wife as the first car she will driving. So I need to make a check before buying. There are more OBD2 readers/scanners that can test these cars on 100%? Bluetooth-connectable devices will be great to use with smartphone.
