    2005 E63 645ci Tyre size

    evenin all.

I'd like to get rid of the (concrete filled) runflats on my newly purchased 645ci and replace with 'ordinary tyres'. Im a little confused about what tyre size(s) i should go for..

    currently on:
    Rear - 275/35 R19
    Front - 245/40 R19

i have 2 questions buzzing around my head.

    1. Can both front and rear be fitted with 245/40 R19 ? and if so what effect would this have?
    2. Can the rear tyres be fitted with 275/40 R19 ? and would this larger profile make the ride slightly softer? if not, what effect would this have?

would really appreciate any light anyone might be able to shed as these tyres are going to cause quite a pain in the wallet!

    cheers dani

275/40 R19 will have too large a rolling diameter - you need to aim for 26.5". In respect to 245/40 R19 the 275/40 R19 will have a diameter 3.5% larger - and that will confuse the DSC system. You can run a square set-up where all 4 wheels have the same tyre size, and 245/40 R19 would work but look a bit thin at the back.

    thanks Timm
    Thats so helpful !

    I did indeed think that:
"45' is not so simple, you might have hoped that it was a measurement of the sidewall of the tyre"

despite sitting at the back of the maths class in school, I now know i'm keeping exactly the same tyre size!

    cheers
    dani
