So I finally was able to install INPA in my wife's laptop (my work laptop has firewalls and anti-virus software that I can't disable or modify). I still get an error between the DME and EWS (keep getting ECU_REJECTED in the EWS module). Keep in mind that the car was starting and running ok until the moment the transponder was lost from the only old key that I had and the new key was ordered from BMW (#4 so haven't reached the limit of 10). I'm new to INPA so I don't know what else to do. So this is what I see after looking at the screens in more detail:
This shows that the key is INVALID because of the rolling code, ID and password?
This is the ECU REJECTED screen shot:
And this is the error code with the google translate in English below. It does say the there is a "DME EWS Interface error" which I believe is the loss of sync. Am I correct?

I'm going back to the dealer to have them check the key because INPA is giving a "key identification error". Let's see how it goes!

A new key didn't change the outcome. This time I went into the digital status screen on the DME and confirmed that EWS is not switching on and that the key is sending data but not being interpreted (if that makes any sense). Here are a couple of screenshots:
So ignition switch is ok (brand new and start_on signal confirmed), battery is ok (battery tender has been on for the past week), different keys had no change in the outcome but I still get the ERROR_ECU_REJECTED when I try to read the ISN from the DME and when I try to reset the EWS Sync.
I'm out of ideas here. Bad EWS?

Excellent! Purp has helped me out in the past too. Definitely owe him a few beverages.
Mine just stopped working all of the sudden giving me a no start condition (it didn't even click). Have you hooked up a computer with INPA and tried to do the sync?

I do not have any scan capabilities other than this cheapo wifi box that i actaully just tested. It didnt show any faults but did connect and show me real time sensor data. I was directed which cable to get and adapter, but havent purchased it yet. Might have to wait to buy anything until after the new year.
I seem to have a click from the relay but not a peep from the starter itself (which is brand new)
Hey Purplecty, I made a new thread with more info, I’ll post the link.
