Recommendation for windshield adhesive for rear view mirror

Would you guys have any recommendation for rear view mirror adhesives that are not the regular little packets you get from the parts store? For the first time, I have not had any luck with this little packet when installing the mirror in one of my thunderbirds. The mirror simply does not hold and falls off with a very light touch, even after allowing for the glue to cure. I wanted to use some sort of industrial cleaner on the glass and try the little packet again, but I'm open to suggestions from this group who always seems to be keen on the best products to use.

    Thanks!

first off, acetone and a new single edged razor blade to clean the window surface AND the mirror mount.
the superglue/ammonia stuff they give you at the parts store is actually more than capable of doing this job but the glass guys do have a better cyanoacrylate / base catalyst mix you could take the car in to have applied.

But really, the secret is in the cleaning. Unless you get every spec of everything off the mating surfaces, no glue will work

My 1991 850 was missing its rear view mirror when I bought it. Thanks for the glue back on trick.

What are my options for a rear view mirror? What are potential Donor Vehicles?

Permatex 11067 rear view mirror adhesive. I used years ago and it worked. I think it is still on the market.
