So, I want thoughts. I will be grabbing a 95 525i within the next week or so as a project car that can sit between times I have to work on it. It’s stock as is, good engine and tranny. I guess off the bat, if I gutted it and deleted unnecessary components from the engine bay, what am I looking at as far as noticeable power differences? I get this isn’t really a huge performance engine, but I’m just curious what would happen if I did that. Down the line, I want to consider swapping another motor, because from what I’ve read, you can swap a couple into this chassis pretty freely. Thoughts and ideas appreciated
You can make anything fast. What is your budget? What are your power goals? Do you want N/A power or F/I power? An S50/2 engine from the e36's should be a direct bolt in and would provide a noticeable in power. You can always turbo or supercharge those motors if its not enough. Your stock motor is never going to make much power unless you turbo it. You can do FBO and maybe make around 200+hp but that's still not alot for a car that weight.
Lsx are fairly common now also. It's really depends on what YOU want and how deep your pockets are.
