Not a huge update but finally putting on the finishing touches before drivetrain gets pulled to be gone thru. 4" from the Downpipe back. Converted to Throttle by cable as well. Driveshaft should be done this next week.

Wow. Nice..... love the intercooler/radiator setup. Are you eliminating A/C?

I wish it was easy to keep awd... I love the idea of a turbo ls e53 but awd would put it over the top.

I can make you a set in the beginning of the year. I'm about to yank my drivetrain back out to go thru everything and then I can make jigs for the mounts. You will be able to run Factory Pickup Truck/ Van Front Dress Accessories and Oilpan so swapping should be extremely cheap if you want to go budget build on this chassis.

I’m not even done with my current swap but I really want a E53 after seeing these build threads.

That sounds good. I’m assuming you’ll drop the part number for the oem exhaust manifold after payment?

TCI Outlaw Shifter finally came in after weeks of waiting on the part. Really wanted to go with the stock bmw shifter but I ended up going this route. Driveshaft turned out pretty slick. Getting close to the complete teardown stage and then final assembly. All hot side parts will be ceramic coated satin black. I will be running a Holley Terminator X Engine Management System. Haven't picked my Torque Converter out yet. Lots of options out there for my 4l80e.

Looking freaking awesome man, glad to see more people using the Sonnax adapter and a single piece drive-shaft. I like the look of the shifter, stands-out but probably is more satisfying to use.

Any updates to share? Very interested in converting my own 4.6is to an LS .... particularly interested in total parts cost so far ...

I'm starting a ls swap on my 05 x5 but not gonna lie I'm not a fabricator and don't know the first thing about welding so I'm curious how much you would charge to fab and ship some motor mounts and trans crossmember to maine

have you started the LS swapped x5?
On my 5.3 L83 swap, Im not running a fuel control module, the fuel pump is wired up like an LS. I'm running a GSS342BX fuel pump with a e46 radium fuel pump adapter to fit the OE sending unit and a 5 bar return fuel setup all -6 fitting from the x5 fuel filter quick disconnects.
at 70 psi I have this weird rhythmic (maybe every 4-5 seconds) thumping noise from the fuel tank, I'm think its something to do with the siphon jet or something.. very strange. I lowered the fuel PSI to about 60 psi and the noise is reduced... have you came across this yet? I haven't put many miles on the swap, still fooling with other projects.
nice work on your swap by the way
