sorry if this is in the wrong section
i have a 1998 e36 M3 sedan shell, and i also have a spare Getrag 420G with a M62b44 engine kicking around. i want to marry the two over winter to keep my sanity with the blistering Minnesota cold.
my question is THIS. can my existing OBD2 system on my e36 chassis, work with the M62 engine? i searched the googles and have found close to Nothing in English language. theres a ton of info on the OBD1 cause of no ews, but can it be done on OBD2 as well? if so What are the steps?
also, would a later model 4.4L engine be better for an obd2 swap?

Wish you a lotta luck.. can it be done? Sure... it’s gonna be a lot of hours with the etm for both cars.. You’re probably starting with the M62 engine harness. You do have the harness and Ecu right?
No matter where you go, there you are...
i have a complete parts car.

Then like I said in my post, it's going to be a lot of hours with the ETM's...
You're going to need to see what the M62 needs and wants, and put that in the E36. Probably at minimum the cluster and throttle by wire. (if it has TBW)
