I picked up an 08 335i cheap, but with fuel pump issues. I changed the HPFP but am still getting the p142e code and having issues. It was $200 ebay pump, yah yah, I know but it seemed to have worked most people. Anyhow, before I yank this thing out and try to ask for a return, what else should I try? The guy who sold me the car had a new low pressure pump, the one in the rear, so I figure I'll throw that in. Anything else I should check?
Thanks
Well, sure. Throw a factory / OEM low pressure pump, a factory / OEM HPFP, and a set of factory injectors with at least a #10 coding, to replace the ones that were ruined when the HPFP spewed metal into them.
Bad parts = bad results= doing it over and over.
Oh, P-codes are useless emissions nonsense. Get a real BMW diagnostic device; maybe $150 for a Foxwell NT 510, since you like EBay.

100% percent agree with that.
I would already have that HPFP on the way but it says back ordered, dang. I'll see if I can find a different good one. If anyone knows of a good site with it in stock, I'd love the suggestion. I'll look into the injectors as well. Any sensors or anything else I should check?
Regarding the scanning, I have some kind of tool where I can plug into the OBD port and then plug USB into my laptop, and I have some software on my laptop, but I don't know what software. A freidn remoted in and did all of that a while back. I will double check what software it is, later on, and check with ya'll if it is helpful.
Also, thanks again!

The software I have is INPA 2016 v1.2a , originally dowloaded for use on my E46. Will it do me any good for this?
Sorry, I don't know. I use ISTA, Autologic and Launch. Maybe Abel (328 Power 04) will read your thread and answer that for you. OR, you could just try it.... it won't hurt anything.

So I messed around with INPA and got codes 2ACC , 29F3 , 29F2 .
INPA, and all other quality devices, will give those codes in words, not just numbers. You need to tell me the words, I have not memorized the thousands of possible BMW code numbers.

Yah, I know, the words are all in German, I've been looking them up...
29F2 fuel high pressure system, fuel pressure
29F3 Fuel pressure sensor Electrical, and other listings seem to all say low pressure fuel sensor
The 2ACC, something about a DME relay? Im not sure if that one is relevant today.
The new HPFP is on the way.
