    P0014 Headache

    Hello,

I've been dealing with the P0014 Exhaust Camshaft Position Timing - Over Advanced (Bank 1) code for awhile now. First thing I did was replace the exhaust cam sensor (with an aftermarket sensor), which didn't clear the code. I got BMW and another shop to diagnose the issue and they told me to replace the Vanos solenoids. I replaced the exhaust solenoid and cleaned the intake solenoid, but it still didn't clear the code.

When I replaced the exhaust cam sensor, I bought an aftermarket sensor. A couple people are saying that could be the issue, and that only BMW sensors should be used. I'd just like to get some other opinions before I throw more money at this code. I'm running out of time as I need to pass an etest within the next month.

    I appreciate any help!

What do you mean with 'didn't clear the code'? Did you hook up an OBD scanner and clear the codes from memory? With some codes, even if the problem is no longer there, the CEL will stay on and the error will remain active unless you clear it with an OBD scanner.

Do you have INPA? How do the VANOS readings look in there?

I do agree on only using OEM sensors. What engine do you have?
