we have an 06 325i (E90) and the airbag light is on on the dash.
I have installed an emulator on it so the overhead console lite is not on...just at the dash. will a code reader clear this thru the OBD port?
I think it somehow got tripped when we unplugged the stereo amp plug at the radio as it was off prior to showing up at my place and we installed an amplifier thru the speaker wires/ seems strange that unplugging a radio circuit would trip an airbag light tho.
Anyways can that light be turned off thru the OBD port without a trip to the stealer?
Go to a good local shop
As j wrote, find a reputable indie shop that specializes in bimmers at www.bimrs.org. Working on the stereo dud kit mess up the airbag.
thanks for alls replies but...just for all's personal information,,,i went to harbor freight and bought the Zurich zr13 code reader that also can deal with SRS and ABS codes and it worked on the bimmer's airbag code perfectly.
Strange that the stereo job tripped an airbag code but, it is what it is...but it is now within my reach to deal with it easily.
I figure if that scanner / code reader can deal with a bmw it can deal easily with my fords, dodge, and chebbie.
So I consider it money well spent...and another tool in my arsenal.
So if in doubt the harbor freight top end code reader/ scanner can read and erase codes on your bmw....and if it cannot you have 30 days to return it. but it worked for us.
